Disability Services

ÑÇɫӰ¿â is committed to equal access and participation for all persons, including those with disabilities, in academic areas and other sponsored programs. This includes providing reasonable accommodations and appropriate academic adjustments pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1976 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008.

Appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities are provided on an individualized, collaborative, and flexible basis.

Self Disclosure

Unlike secondary education, disclosure in post-secondary education is the responsibility of the student. In order for you to receive accommodations, you must first disclose your disability to the Disability Access Coordinator (DAC). Self-advocacy does not happen overnight, so one of the roles of the DAC is to assist the student with this process.

Common ADA¨Accommodations

  • Additional time on exams/quizzes
  • Preferred classroom seating
  • Priority Registration
  • Reduced course load
  • Note-takers or recording devices
  • Audiobooks
  • Testing in a distraction-reduced environment

*Not limited to these examples

Eligibility

ÑÇɫӰ¿â recommends that you contact the DAC as early as possible to assure that accommodations or academic adjustments/auxiliary aids are in place by the time you begin your academic journey with us.

Below are links to the documentation needed to request ADA accommodations and verify a disability. It is important to note that ADA accommodations are not retroactive.
